Product Details

Francee Hosta has large, heart-shaped leaves that feature a striking color combination. The center of each leaf is a rich, glossy dark green, while the margins or edges are a creamy, almost pure white. The contrast between the dark green and white variegation gives the plant a beautiful and eye-catching appearance. The leaves are moderately corrugated, adding texture to the plant. In summer, Hosta may produce tall, slender stems with lavender or white bell-shaped flowers, but the main appeal of this cultivar lies in its foliage.

  • Size: Francee Hosta is considered a medium-sized Hosta cultivar. It typically grows to a height of about 18 to 24 inches (45 to 60 cm) and has a spread of around 30 to 36 inches (75 to 90 cm). The size may vary depending on the growing conditions and maturity of the plant.
  • Location: Hostas prefer partial to full shade, as direct sunlight can scorch their leaves. Plant them in a location where they receive morning sun or dappled light throughout the day.
  • Soil: Hostas thrive in well-draining, rich, and moist soil. Adding organic matter, such as compost, to the soil before planting will help improve its texture and fertility.
  • Watering: Hostas require consistent moisture, especially during hot and dry periods. Water them regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  • Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture, suppress weed growth, and provide some insulation for the roots.
  • Fertilizing: Feed Francee Hosta with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Avoid excessive use of high-nitrogen fertilizers, as they may encourage lush foliage but reduce variegation.
  • Division: Hostas benefit from being divided every few years to maintain their vigor. The best time to divide them is in early spring before new growth emerges or in the fall after the foliage has died back.
  • Pests and Diseases: Hostas are relatively resistant to pests and diseases, but they can be susceptible to slugs and snails. To protect your plants, consider using organic pest control methods or barriers.
